It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 6 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes at at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools.

The truth is: I’ve never gone a day in my life without comparing myself to someone else. They’re always smarter, stronger, faster, skinnier, prettier, perkier, happier, more smarter. I feel like I need to compare myself to someone. I know I shouldn’t do that but I can’t help it. To me, someone is always better. If I get a “B” on the math test, the girl that sits infront of me gets an “A”. If I pass someone I know and say “Hi” but keep walking, someone else will walk up to them and strike up a conversation. Someone is always trying to “one-up” me. When I think about that I start to hate the people that are “better” than me. I don’t want to, but I can’t help it.
